Toerag studios – Against all odds
I receive the IMX (Iceland Music Export) newsletter quite often and one was profiling the recording of Lay Low’s second album. She decided to record it at Toe Rag studio in London, I’d never heard of this place but a quick search informed me of the true analogueness of the place. Against the fresh digital trend of the early nineties Liam Watson (studio owner) pressed eject on DAT machines and opted for vintage analogue recordings. After the success of Elephant by the White Stripes tons of bands went to ring the buzzer of Toe Rag. There is a good article on Liam and his studio at www.soundonsound.com
